Travel Time Measures are conducted to mitigate congestion, reduce delay, and improve volume throughput by means of minimizing starvation or spillback, usually caused by poor coordination, along adjoining signalized intersections and along corridors. The MD SHA conducts travel time runs on a regular basis along roadways in order to better serve its patrons, save time, and improve services. Itenology Corporation assists in conducting these studies utilizing sophisticated software tools that minimize the potential for errors during and after the runs. Itenology Corporation also provides valuable field observations and pictures that help in identifying issues that are usually overlooked.
Itenology Corporation performed a comprehensive travel time study between Bethesda and Clarksburg Road which involved collecting travel time data, average speeds, and delays along MD 355 and major cross streets utilizing PC-Travel. The study involved post processing and analysis of data collected, and the deliverable included technical reports for use in traffic engineering studies.
